When it's meta, we gotta do it. Another TV Show base don a podcast (these are getting common) We're a little late, but the beauty of streaming is someone is always finding a show for the first time.

Chris dives deep into the history of the Podcast, the Gimlet Podcast network and how this show came about. Then we dive into this easily digestible, yet entertaining show.

And as always, Crossovers and 30 Second Pitches!

Dec 18, 2018

It's always a special day when we have a special guest. this week Megan Fox (@TheRoseFox) joins us to discuss the Netflix She-Ra Reboot.

We dig into the controversy of the art style a little bit. We go back and watch the 1980s She-Ra (also on Netflix) Dig into a lot of Cartoon Nostalgia with Megan. And Steve and Chris Get chided for all the shows we HAVEN'T watched!

All that and Crossovers and 30 second pitches!

Nov 20, 2018

The show we've been waiting for since episode 3! Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is back again! An adaption of his new take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is the perfect show to watch this Thanksgiving break (or after)

How does a 8 issue run on the comics translate into a 10 episode series? What is still familiar from the Sabrina we know from the Melissa Joan Hart Version? How does Kiernan Shipka do all grown up?

Also, what is left for us to crossover when it comes to comic book tv shows? Oh don't worry, we've got some doozies!!!

Nov 17, 2018

This week Steve and Chris are back to talk about another new Hulu show. The Bisexual! A unique new show, brought to you by the creator of the miseducation of Cameron Post. written by, created by and starring Desiree Akhavan. It's a british show premiering on Hulu in the US and Channel 4 in the UK.

Steve and Chris discuss if the show works for American audiences, and if it's appealing to individual who aren't LBGTQ.

We also talk about a few other british shows we've enjoyed, and do some crossovers!

Nov 6, 2018

Since we did Roseanne last year, we had to come back and do the Conners.

Was the show worth the controversy? Is it better for it, worse? What did they do right in addressing it? Does the show work without Roseanne? A lot of deep questions.

Plus our first crossover with a show that doesn't exist! And 30 second pitches!

Nov 4, 2018

It's that time of year. The new fall season is in full bloom. In pursuit of our eventual goal of watching every new fall show one of these years Chris and Steve split up and hit it hard.

In this episode we discuss (in order)

I Feel Bad (NBC)

You (Lifetime)

The Cool Kids (FOX)

Manifest (NBC)

God Friended Me (CBS)

REL (FOX)

Camping (HBO)

Happy Together (ABC)

The Kids Are Alright (ABC)

Single Parents (ABC)

Charmed (CW)

The Rookie (ABC)

A Million Little Things (ABC)

Chris also issues a challenge to Steve to watch a reality show, while Steve Challenges Chris to a Twin Peaks Watching Challenge

We also take a quick look back at last year's fall premieres from the 22nd episode spectacular, and a few more from the 33rd!

Thanks for sticking with us for 66 episodes, here's to 66 more!

Oct 20, 2018

Welcome, to the two old men watching shows about teenage girls podcast.... Well that's what my wife calls it sometimes.

But hey! how could we resist doing Hulu's pre-answer to Sabrina the Teenage Witch (dark edition) And what better way to kick off the halloween series than a 24 minute take on Pretty Little Liars territory.

We've got some great crossovers and 30 second picthes this weeek, and also. We Love You.

Oct 15, 2018

She's a maniac maniac on this show.... Yes we got that joke out of the way early.

Another limited series, this time they swear it will stay as one, Netflix brings us a taste of Cassette futurism! For the authentic experience export this mp3 to a cassette, put it into a walkman and enjoy!

This was a fascinating show and we had a ball discussing it, and spoilers, can't wait to watch more!!

Oct 9, 2018

Another reboot? Hey, without reboots we'd just end up reviewing new shows, and who wants that?

This time it's a show Chris loved as a kid and Steve was only tangentially aware of, so how does season 11 turn out?

Also do we dare introduce a new Cinematic universe to go with freeform and Disney's?

Sep 17, 2018

Another movie that became a TV Show. This time the horror series from Blumhouse has become a TV Limited event series (that will probably get 406 seasons). How do our opinions compare when Chris has never seen the movies and Steve has only seen the first.

How much "Horror" can you do on basic cable, is there enough to draw us in to watch more?

Also how would the Purge episode of The Office work out? Find out in Crossovers, this week on the Episode One Podcast

Sep 14, 2018

This week Steve and Chris take a special look at The First. a new show from Hulu that we got to see early! Posting the same day as the show's release we dive into everything including the big spoiler.

Also a very unique take on 30 second pitches, and as always, crossovers!

Sep 10, 2018

This week the episode one podcast has something special. shout out to Hulu for sending us screeners for the entire season of Castle Rock. We bring you a quick recap of the entire season one of Castle Rock, a few days before the Season finale ends.

We avoid Spoilers for episode 10, but pretty much spoil everything else that's aired.

Did the show live up to our unfair judging from just the first episode? Will we do Castle Rock Season 2 Episode 1? Does this new format work?

Join us on this adventure and find out!

Sep 8, 2018

On this episode of Kidding Steve... no wait, that was another podcast.

This week we get an advance look at a new showtime show and Jim Carrey's first episodic series since In Living Color. Directed by Michael Gondry, Airing on showtime, there is a lot to dive into.

Kidding Premiere son Showtime Sunday September 9th, come and decide if you're interested in the show with us. And as always, random tangents about Batman, 30 second pitches (featuring Elon Musk's robot Daughter) and Crossovers!

Sep 6, 2018

Fresh off their annual Fantasy Football draft, Chris and Steve take a look at the highly anticipated Amazon Prime Original Series: Jack Ryan

We talk a bit about the history of the character, the history of Tom Clancy in the Media, but we spend most of the episode discussing of how Jack Ryan fits into the canon of The Office (Believe us, it works)

And crossovers (besides the office) and 30 second pitches!

Aug 28, 2018

Matt Groening is back baby!

We had a bit of a technical difficulty in this episode, so there's a bit of an abrupt cut from the original pod and we rerecorded about ten minutes of conversation. This was a really fun show and generated a great amount of discussion for a half hour show.

And as always, 30 second pitches and crossovers!

Aug 25, 2018

We promised it, and it delivered. After doing dietland, a show about weight and the issues surrounding it, we had to do insatiable, just for the controversy around how it handled the topic of weight.

And boy did we get more than we bargained for. To just mention the controversy does this show a disservice. Insatiable si a fascinating dark comedy... But is it good? Steve and Chris decide... at least for episode one!

Aug 14, 2018

This week Steve and Chris makes things more Family Friendly and take a look at Fraggle Rock!... Wait (*checks notes*) oh... this isn't family friendly at all?

This week Steve and Chris delve into the darkness that ensues when you mix Stephen King and JJ Abrams and explore the Hulu Original Series: Castle Rock. How many references do Steve and Chris Catch? What other author's works would make for a great episodic series in a grand meta-narrative? What's in this JJ Abrams Mystery Box? could it be...

SATAN?

All this and more on the Episode One Podcast!

Aug 8, 2018

55 Episodes! and there were those who said we'd never make 54! well phooey on them!

This time, to celebrate the occasion we take a look at one of Chris's favorite shows of all time (Nowhere Man) and One of Steve's (Garth Marenghi's Darkplace). Both a bit older, how do they hold to up to a re-viewing?

We also take a look back and update our old shows, which have we continued to watch, what's still on the air? what shows have we cursed to oblivion?

Enjoy this 55th episode spectacular, we couldn't have made it without all of your!

Jul 28, 2018

Once again Steve and Chris dig into the past to watch and older show that ties up to a recent movie release.

This week it's that rarity of a thing, Mission Impossible without Tom Cruise! How does a show from the 60s hold up? How true to the show have the movies been? And how the heck did Mission Impossible connect to Diagnosis Murder?

All this along with 30 second pitches and crossovers on the Episode One Podcast!

Jul 8, 2018

Not even sure where to start on this one. It's one of the most interesting shows we've done (And We've done Sense8!) It's definitely the most "woke" show.

Tune in for discussions of how sometimes you can miss catering to your audience, whether a show can be too sad, and whether a big twist can be enough to tune back in for episode two!

All that and crossovers and 30 second pitches!

Jul 7, 2018

Last time we had sense8, which was only mildly confusing, but this time we've got take two? but when did we do this podcast the first time?

Oh wait it's ok, Rachel Bilson is on! That's right, this week Steve and Chris look at the new summer show from the creators of Castle. What other shows did this remind us of. We also take a look back at the history of summer shows, discuss some of our favorites, and we discuss the state of the summer show in this new peak tv/streaming moment.

And as always, 30 second pitches and Crossovers!

Jun 22, 2018

What better way to celebrate the finale of Sense8 than to go back to the beginning.

Is the show more confusing than Twin Peaks? How does the combination of the Wachowskis and J Michael Stracynzski fare? Is there enough here to get us to binge the complete series now that it's finished?

Also what is the deal with Daryl Hannah and Sayid? Also we discuss whether pornhub original programming can be a thing.

Jun 19, 2018

It's finally happened. The Marvel Universe has collided with the Freeform cinematic universe.

Can Bella Thorne defeat Thanos? Will the Fosters adopt Black Widow? Can Siren be a backdoor pilot for the Namor TV Series (Is Namor Mutant or not? c'mon people!) Can Grownish help the runaways? (I smell crossover episode)

Until we get the answers to these questions and more, Steve and Chris discuss the long awaited Cloak and Dagger. What narrative trick did it get us with, what MCU shout out excited us the most, and does the series work?

All this plus crossovers and 30 second pitches!

Jun 12, 2018

A little late to the party, Chris and Steve watch Killing Steve... I mean Eve, Killing Eve, definitely NOT Killing Steve...

Does it live up to the hype? Was it worth losing Sandra Oh from Gray's Anatomy? Wait Gray's Anatomy is still on?

And, as always, Crossovers and 30 second pitches!

Jun 6, 2018

Join Chris and Steve as we watch 3 different Arrested Development Episode Ones (A new Record!) We go back and re-watch the pilot that started it all. We watch season 4's episode one again for the first time with Arrested Development Season 4 Fateful Consequences. And we check in on the Bluths latest development with season 5.

How has the show, and the fandom progressed over the years? Does the pilot still hold up? What themes come into play recurringly throughout the series?

And as always, crossovers and 30 second pitches!
