In our longest episode yet, the Fantasy Space Force draft finally... happens?

And we take a quick look at episode one of the Freeform (streaming on Hulu) miniseries "Love in the time of Corona" Then talk about what shows we've been watching since the quarantine started mid march.

Many shows from our backlog get covered, or re-covered, and a few new ones pop up as well!

Come enjoy it with us!

When we see Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams as Executive Producers, we've gotta watch.

Lovecraft Country is an exciting new HBO show, that pulls off some great stuff. Racism as Horror, it's been done before, but not sure it's ever been this effective. A great cast, great FX. Steve and Chris are excited to talk about this one with you!

Plus 30 second pitches and crossovers!

Aug 3, 2020

Well Peacock is here and we are.... excited?

We take a look at their current heavy hitter/prestige title Brave New World, and take a quick look at Intelligence and the 30 Rock Special/Upfront replacement/Controversial advertisement.

Some fun ensues as Steve had never heard of Brave New World before this show. Just shows the XKCD "Lucky 10,000" principle never fails: https://xkcd.com/1053/

Also we do some Peacock crossovers and 30 second pitches for new shows on Peacock

Jul 8, 2020

With a guest appearance, well almost, from Chris's wife Becca. The guy's take a look at a show made for tweens... that doesn't suck.

Chris was always jealous of the babysitter's club series as a kid, turns out his wife read nearly all of them, so they talked Steve into watching it so we could talk about it on the podcast.

Sadly Becca couldn't be on the pod, but gave her thoughts to Chris to relay.

Also because Becca wasn't there Damian Wayne gets mentioned a lot in this episode... Enjoy!

Got a triple threat this week. First we finally tackle Stargirl! It's been out for awhile, but we've been excited to talk about it since it features a comic character we both know, but haven't read the books.

Then with the premiere of Doom Patrol Season 2 on HBO Max, we go back and finally watch the pilot. Another comic book show, and right up our alley in the world of different ones, like Legion and Umbrella Academy.

Finally, a quick look at Matthew Rhys as Perry Mason, Chris and Steve are split on this one, but a fun watch.

All this plus crossovers and 30 second pitches: What prequel shows with a dark spin do we want to see?

Jun 11, 2020

Two recent shows that got a little overlooked after the events of the last few weeks. We wanted to dive in and enjoy a little comedy.

Space Force comes to us from Greg Daniels, starring a star studded cast!

Love Life features a perennial contender for America's Sweetheart: Anna Kendrick!

We also return to doing Crossovers and 30 second pitches!

In a somber moment for America. Steve and Chris wanted to find a way to honor and add to the empathy of what's going on in the aftermath of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.

We watched the first episodes of "Dear White People" "When They See Us" and "#BlackAF" to listen and understand the systemic issues of Race and Racism from the lens of Black Creators.

Here's a link to the video project on youtube that supports BLM via ad revenue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCgLa25fDHM

and a link to Campaign Zero and 8 Cant Wait: https://www.joincampaignzero.org/

Thank you if you choose to listen.

Well we got two firsts and a show. Our first interactive show, Kimmy Schmidt Kimmy vs the Reverend. Our first show from the Dc Online subscription... even though we watched it on Syfy. And then we have the new show from the co creator of Rick and Morty (Justin Roiland).

A lot to cover. We do our own interactive intro. Discuss Solar opposites from the perspective of being the only two guys who were meh on Rick and Morty, and What is a Batman show that has cursing and no Frank Miller (I'm the goddamn Batman) like?

All this and we squeeze in crossovers and 30 second pitches!.

May 12, 2020

Finally a show that matches what Chris does with each episode. Upload!

This week we take a look at the new Drama (Drama!!!) from Greg Daniels, best known for Parks and Recreation and the Office. We discuss whether it's future is realistic, if the concerns the premise raises about life, the universe and everything mesh, and we take a look at Black Mirror's "San Junipero" and how similar it is.

Plus 30 second pitches, crossovers and quarantine updates!

Stay safe, stay healthy.

May 5, 2020

We watched the Parks and Recreation special. Come listen to us reminisce about the glory of this show, talk about whether the reunion special worked, and discuss what other shows could pull off a good quarantine episode.

Stay safe out there Podcast Land

I want to live like normal people, I want to sleep with normal people, normal people like you.

No wait that was common people.

This week Steve and Chris watch a new Hulu show (airing on BBC 1 overseas) Based off a book it's another look at young love, teenagers in high school. This time in Ireland.

It's a fascinating exercise to see the tropes we're so used to in America be placed in a different culture.

Come join us for the ride, and learn about Gaelic Football!

Apr 26, 2020

The podcast returns to a happier time, a gentler time, a time with less stress and worry, when the economy was in shambles and America was engulfed in a never ending war.

Oh the 70's, what we wouldn't give to experience a different oil shock. But all that said, Mrs. America is pretty cool. Taking a look at a side of the 70's we don't get to see much, the beginnings of the modern gender equity movement. A deeper dive into the Equal Rights amendment, something you only got a paragraph about in your history book (if that!).

Plus some non pandemic 30 second pitches and crossovers!

Apr 20, 2020

This week a subject Steve knows pretty well, Carole Baskin! Yes Steve has been a visitor to the Big Cat Rescue. Since we're all in quarantine, the episode one podcast had to jump on the bandwagon and talk about what everyone else is. Tiger King!

After about 35 minutes of Covid-19 and Tiger King talk we dig into our back catalog and discuss how some shows we've done in the past would treat their quarantine episode. Inspired by, and referencing the great vulture article: https://www.vulture.com/2020/04/if-i-wrote-a-coronavirus-episode.html

Apr 5, 2020

We're back in the Freeform extended cinematic universe. This time with witches.. and alternate history... and wait how do the Fosters and Grownish fit in?

Regardless, despite there being a pandemic going on, new shows are being released, and Steve and Chris are here to talk about them... just socially distanced of course.

Enjoy, let us know what you think and how you're doing through all this. Episodeonepod@gmail.com

Mar 18, 2020

The episode one podcast was lucky enough to get a screener for this new show, but had to hold it for release.

Now the show is out, enjoy our take!

Also Chris still can't stop calling it "Tiny Little Fires"

Mar 14, 2020

4 comedies to hopefully calm your nerves in these trying times. Over the last month Steve and Chris have been catching up on new comedies.

High Fidelity: Hulu The latest in Movies becoming TV Shows. Steve's seen the original, Chris hasn't.

Nora from Queens: Comedy Central One of the most divisive shows in our podcast's history, the show just rubs Chris the wrong way

Dave: FX, FX on Hulu A show that surprised us both, we both came in with negative preconceptions, but wound up liking it!

Breeders: FX, FX on Hulu Martin Freeman! Chris can relate to this show, while Steve can appreciate it.

Also we cross these shows over, and do some 30 second pitches!

Feb 24, 2020

Starting with a 20 minute breakdown of the current world of streaming. Including speculation on how we'll cover HBO Max, Peacock, and whether we'll ever cover Apple +. Chris and Steve dig into Star Trek Picard.

Chris is an avid Star Trek Fan who grew up with Next Generation and has watched most of it. Steve has seen one Star Trek movie.

We dive into what is a pretty fun and engaging show, and discuss how most star trek shows served as procedurals and this may be the first with an ongoing storyline.

All this, plus crossovers and 30 second pitches!

Jan 21, 2020

This week we've got two pretty exciting shows. Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (9:00) did a preview the first week of the year and we had to watch. Does it live up to the hype of other cool musical based shows? (Eli Stone and Crazy Ex- Girlfriend)

Then a new entry to the Freeform Cinematic Universe: Everything's gonna be OK (35:20) . From an Australian comedian, A really unique show, that has an amazing cast of mostly unknowns, and just crushes. We're jealous Josh Thomas!

All this plus cross overs and 30 second pitches!

Jan 3, 2020

This week a sneak peek at Party of Five, premiering January 8 on Freeform. With a special sneak peek available on Hulu now, why not kick off another happy freeform new year?

We took on the challenge of watching the original Party of Five so we could compare it to the new. How does the twist with immigration/Deportation hold up? Can the original show runners strike gold again? Will Jennifer Love Hewitt get another spin-off?

All these plus some great cross-overs, and you won't want to miss Chris's pitch for a new "My So-Called Life"

Jan 2, 2020

Steve took a look at The Good Trouble Christmas special

We also take a quick look at some streaming exclusive Christmas movies: "The Knight Before Christmas" and "Noelle" but tell you why you should watch 2018's "Christmas Chronicles" Instead.
